Reception : Weave The Magic

Here are our Reception children and their parents having lots of fun when they came to Weave The Magic afternoon.

Easter Bunny Run

On the 28th March 2019, Red Hill selected pupils participated in the Easter Bunny Run at St Peters and St Pauls Catholic School.  For many of the pupils it was their first time competing against other schools.  All of the pupils performed extremely well and demonstrated key personal attributes such as resilience, determination and enthusiasm. We would like to thank St Peters school and Bromley Sports Partnership for organising and hosting the event, and the parents who were able to come and support.

Special mention goes out to Max Chatman, who finished third in his race.  Well done, one to watch for the future.

Science Week

Here are some lovely photographs from science week.  The first one is Volcanoes from reception .The second is the lab coat entries from year 1.The next are from year 4 weighing and measuring cross curricular. The last set are year 4 science fair project and the digestive system .

Great to be me

Today we welcomed Michael Turner from Southend United to launch our Great to Be Me project across the school. The children enjoyed listening to his story of how he became a professional footballer and were inspired by his perseverence and resilience. We are delighted that he has an ambassador for this unique project where everyone can celebrate why they are great.

Year 4 Science Week

In year 4 we have been studying the digestive system. As part of science week, we are looking at the journey of food through the body to fit in with our studies. This week, we recreated the digestive system process.

Tag Rugby Event

The rugby team managed to secure 2nd place on the development cup on Thursday 7th February.  They played 10 games, won 7, drew 2 and amazingly only lost one to the eventual winners Hayes.Their behaviour was exemplary and they demonstrated an in depth understanding of how to play the game despite many of them being new to the sport.

We would like to thank the Bromley school games organisers and Park House Rugby for hosting an exceptional event, the pupils thoroughly enjoyed their experience.

Year 2 Trip to The London Transport Museum

A great day at The London Transport Museum learning about the history of transport for Year 2; driving buses, creating posters, interactive displays.  The children were full of excitement and very well behaved.  Can you find the hidden roundels in their poster? #buildingbrightfutures #themainthingislearning - Check our Twitter feed @RedHillTPA for more photos.

Year 5 and Year 6 Athletics Team

athletics

Well done to the Year 5 & 6 athletics team who finished 2nd at the Bromley and Orpington Indoor Athletics competition. There were 20 schools competing so the team did a fantastic job at representing the school. Great work!

Year 4

Year 4 have been creating circuits as part of their Science learning this half term and had some real 'light bulb' moments!

Space Engineers in Year 2

For the first day of our 'From A to B' topic the children became space engineers who created and tested their own rockets and rocket launchers by utilising design and technology skills and science forces knowledge. It was very exciting, especially for the rocket launches in the afternoon.

We tweeted about our rockets on our Red Hill Twitter feed and we even got a like from astronaut Tim Peake, how exciting is that!

The following year groups have been taking part in a variety of intercommunity competitions including: Sport, Science, Maths, English, History and Forest School. Congratulations to this term's winning house - Chadwick!

Year 1C

In 1C we have been learning about our mantra and understanding the meaning and importance of P-RACES. We have a lot of Positivity, Rigour, Aspiration, Commitment, definitely a lot of Energy and we always focus on achieving the best we can.

Year 1: Walking a mile a day

In 1H we have been keeping fit by walking ‘A mile a day’.   The children enjoy the fresh air and chatting to their friends as well as keeping fit.

We have been timing ourselves and we are getting faster and faster!

Board Games for Years 1 and 2

Year 4: Music

4A took a well earned break from assessment week and created winter melodies, based on activities that people may enjoy in the winter. We used the keyboards to create different pitched sounds that we thought matched different activities. Some of us opted to use drums to keep rhythm for our compositions.

Year 3 : Christmas Tree Festival

IMG_2234

Year 3 really got into the Christmas spirit last week, making decorations for our contribution to the Christmas Tree Festival at Chislehurst Methodist Church. The festival has been running for 7 years, and displays over 30 trees. Last year, over 1,300 visitors came to the festival, which Year 3 is really proud to be part of this year. We really enjoyed making wooden decorations, which express what Christmas means to us. The festival runs everyday this week (10am-4pm) until Saturday 8th December.

Year 5 - Enjoying Maths

year 5(1)
In Year 5, some of us have been practising the formal method of multiplication. The children now understand the importance of the 'zero'  and lining up the numbers.

Year 2 - Having Fun With Maths

Year 2 have been using their new Clevertouch board to show off our maths skills - Who can get the correct answer and show their working out?  Great fun!

Remembrance service

On Monday 5th November, our Head Boy Harrison and Head Girl Katie were invited to one of the other Pioneer Academy Schools, South Norwood Primary for a morning of reflection, readings and remembrance.  Together the Head Boys and Girls from all of the Pioneer schools laid wreaths by the war memorial on the school site.

In Year 4, our science topic is electricity. This week, we have had a lot of fun and learned a lot by creating circuits using light bulbs and buzzers

Handball Inter-Community Competition

19.7.18

On Wednesday 18th July, 2018, Year 3 took part in a handball inter-community competition lead by some of Year 5.

All of the Year 3 pupils demonstrated key sporting values and skills from accurate passing and shooting to determined defending, as well as teamwork and perseverance.  The Year 5's who led the event were once a credit to the school, showing a maturity beyond their years as they encouraged and organised year 3 pupils to ensure they understood and enjoyed the competition. They took on roles such as score-keeper, referee, coach and photographers, and all of the leaders rose to the challenge and performed these exceptionally well.

Well done, to 3L who were the overall winners, the team-talk by Miss Lewis at the start of the competition must have been incredibly inspiring and this was represented in their attitude and effort throughout the morning of her team(s).

Author Jeremy Strong and The Mayor of Bromley came to visit

We have had a very exciting week and were thrilled to have 2 very important visitors in school on Monday, the author Jeremy Strong and The Mayor of Bromley. The Mayor introduced herself to all the children in Year 3 and 4 and she was very impressed with the new provision to nurture our children. Our Head Boy and Head Girl, Shayaan and Fleur, did an amazing job showing all the fantastic work the children do at Red Hill. Every class had the opportunity to meet Jeremy Strong and hear about how he became a published author and many children were able to buy a signed copy of one of his books. He officially opened our Early Years outdoor area and was very impressed with the investments made for the youngest of our children, offering them a brilliant start to their education at Red Hill Primary.

ICT - Autumn Term

It has been a very busy term in Computing and the children have worked extremely hard on learning new skills.  The Reception classes and Year 1's have explored how to log on to the computer, learning the keys on the keyboard and controlling the mouse by creating various portraits and illustrations.
