Internet Legends
On 25th January Google came to the school and ran a special assembly about being safe online. In a fun, lively and interactive assembly they showed us how we can be "Internet Legends," online by being: Sharp, Alert, Secure, Kind and Brave. We will be using Google resources in school to keep children aware of Internet Safety. They have lots of information and resources online for parents.
Our local MP, Theresa Pearce, attended the assembly and spoke to the children about what she learned from the assembly. She reminded children of the importance of Internet Safety and to tell a responsible adult if they have any concerns.
Theresa Pearce proudly received an "Internet Legends," framed certificate on behalf of the school.

Christmas Jumper Day and Coffee Morning
Another successful and colourful Christmas jumper day at Belvedere Junior School raising money for Save the Children. Festive cheer and joy being spread to all.
Our amazing Belvedere Junior School choir and steel pans band entertained with great melody to the appreciation of parents and family members. A massive thanks to all who were able to come and support.
VE Day
It's VE Day in Year 6 today. We have been fortunate to have Mr Wheble visit us with his Uncle Alfred's WW2 medals and photos. He also brought a family postcard sent from France during WW1! The children loved handling and learning from real artefacts.
Community Christmas Dinner
Over 180 parents and children came back to school this evening to enjoy a Christmas Dinner together. School staff decorated the hall and classrooms for this annual community evening. Every child met Santa Claus and his elves and received a present. Raffle tickets were given to every family attending and the draw was started by the guest of honour, the local MP Theresa Pearce.
Author visit
Today the author, Jack Trelawny, visited the school and spoke to the whole school in assembly. He read extracts from his books and children were able to ask him questions and tips about being an author. Jack gave away signed copies of his books to pupils who asked brilliant questions.
Many children has an opportunity to meet the author during a book-signing session. He has written six novels for children in the Kernowland in Erthwurld series.
Bexleyheath Carols
On 5th December our wonderful choir represented Belvedere Junior School in Bexleyheath Town Centre. They sung a selection of carols to bring some festive cheer to the community. Well done to everyone involved and we look forward to seeing lots more of our choir 'out and about' in the New Year.
Natural History Museum
This week Year 3 we traveled into central London for a day at the Natural History Museum. In groups, we became Paleontologists and dug deep for dinosaur fossils. Once we found them, we identified the type of dinosaur by measuring the length of its skull and the width of its jaw. Afterwards, we identified different fossils by handling them (with care) and describing their features. Once the workshop was over, as a class we explored the dinosaur exhibit. It is safe to say, we all loved the T-Rex!

An act of Rememberance
On Monday 5th November, our Head Girl and Head Boy travelled to South Norwood Primary School to lay flowers at a WW1 war memorial.
The monument - which is located within the grounds of South Norwood Primary School (the latest addition to The Pioneer Academy Trust) - is a fitting tribute to all former pupils and teachers of South Norwood who lost their lives during the First World War.
The Head Girl and Head Boy from each school read a poem to honour those who had died during the conflict.
Harvest Festival 2018
On Tuesday 9th October, we celebrated our Harvest Festival. We were extremely pleased with our collection this year and would like to say a big thank you to all of the parents who donated. Mrs. Lomax will be taking our Head Boy and Girl to deliver the goods to Erith Food Bank later this week.

Local MP oversees election of new Head Boy and Head Girl
On Friday 14th September, pupils and staff were delighted to receive a visit from Teresa Pearce MP.
The Erith and Thamesmead MP had been invited to oversee the school’s annual Head Girl and Head Boy election.
Becky Lomax, Head Teacher, escorted Teresa Pearce on a walk around the school which in recent times has been ranked in the top 20% nationally for student progress.
Following her tour of the school, with Mrs Lomax, Head Teacher. Teresa Pearce began the prestigious task of counting the votes!
Once all votes were counted, the candidates were very excited to be informed of the outcome by a member of the House of Commons – a true bastion of British democracy!
Teresa Pearce – who raised her daughters in neighbouring Erith – stated, “This is a fantastic school; it was a pleasure to meet so many engaged and enthusiastic pupils and staff. The developments in the building and the grounds have created a bright and happy learning environment. I can’t wait to come back later this year to meet the School Council”
Mrs Lomax, Head Teacher said, “Thank you to Teresa Pearce for taking the time to visit our school. Our children are very proud of the progress that they achieve here and they were thrilled to be given an opportunity to share such a special day with their local MP. The children elected a fantastic Head Boy and Head Girl, and I am sure they will be brilliant in their new role.”
Inflatables Day
A big thank you to all parents, children and staff for making Inflatables Day a great success. There was music, refreshments, go-karts, henna patterns, face-painting and of course lots of different inflatable activities. It was great fun and raised £1300 for the children.
