Science Week

We have had a lot of fun celebrating the world of Science this week!  Not only have we had additional science lessons within our classes, we have been fortunate to have had some very special guests visit our school too.
Nick Arnold came in to share some fun experiments with us and to sign his books;  the Quantum Theatre performed a play about living things and KS2 had a really inspiring talk from Mr Tombros who shared his
experience of Artificial Intelligence within the world of computers.  What an exciting week!  Thank you to
Mrs Nolan for arranging such an exciting week!

Cross Country

On Saturday 10th March 2018 students from Years 3 and 4 represented Stewart Fleming at the Bromley school’s Cross Country Championship. It was a fantastic morning and everybody taking part did really well and should be extremely proud of their achievements!

Author Joshua Seigal visits Stewart Fleming

On Tuesday we were incredibly lucky to welcome the author Joshua Seigal to Stewart Fleming. Joshua met all of the children in assembly where he read examples of his published poetry. In the afternoon, Joshua worked with children across the school to inspire and challenge their writing. Children shared their poetry with each other, developing their confidence as well as their speaking and listening skills. At the end of the day, Joshua signed books on the playground for children to take home and continue to be inspired.

Young Voices at the O2

As you can see from the pictures of the Young Voices Choir, we had a fantastic time singing as part of a mass choir of over 7000 children at the O2 Arena in Greenwich on Wednesday. The children also enjoyed singing along with vocalist and guitarist Alfie Sheard and one of UK’s most popular soul/jazz artists Natalie Williams as well as watching performances by the street dance group, Urban Striders.

Harris Bromley teach Year 5 french

A lovely group of Year 9 girls from Harris Bromley Secondary School came in to teach a lesson of French to 5O and a taster lesson of Spanish to 5M. The children loved the experience and really enjoyed being taught by some new faces! It was a fun and informative lesson in both languages and we look forward to seeing them again very soon as we are planning to visit their school to get a real experience of MFL in a Secondary School setting!

A letter from The Queen!

Have you ever wanted to write to The Queen?  One of our pupils in Year 1 decided that that's what he woud do!  He wanted to know why we live in a KINGdom if our Queen has been on the throne for so long?  He was suggesting that perhaps we should live in a QUEENdom!  Read the reply from Her Majesty's Lady-in-Waiting to find out the response.

Year 6 Street Art Trip

This half term, Year Six's art lessons are based around street art.  To get some inspiration, 6T took the tram to Croydon to look around the "Arts Quarter".  This area, around St George's Walk, has some amazing murals painted onto derelict shop fronts and the sides of buildings.  The art has made this part of Croydon vibrant and colourful.  6T were incredibly enthusiastic and took lots of photos whilst discussing the artists' techniques. Here are a few of their pictures. 6N will also be going on the same trip.

Dominic Herrington Opens Our EYFS!

On Tuesday 31st October, Dominic Herrington, The Regional Schools’ Commissioner, along with The Pioneer Academy’s trustees, governors, site project manager, architect and members from the catering team, Nourish, was invited for a tour of our school before officially opening up the new EYFS building.  The guests were impressed with the super facilities offered by this new purpose-built learning environment and also took the opportunity to view the hard work produced across the school.   The guests were met by our Head Girl and Head Boy, as well as a fellow year six pupil, who asked Dominic some very impressive questions; these will feature in the next edition of the school’s newspaper.

Mayor Katherine Bance MBE visits

We were lucky to be joined by a special guest on Wednesday morning - Her Worshipful Mayor of Bromley, Councillor Kathy Bance visited our school.  She enjoyed a tour of the school and was especially impressed by our new build before joining us in celebrating 5Ms learning in their class assembly.  Madam Mayor addressed the children and commented on how smart and well behaved our children are and how it made for a refreshing start to her busy day.

The pictures show Madam Mayor meeting our Head Girl and Head Boy and being interviewed for our school newspaper.
