Community Links
The school has lots of links with the local community and we are lucky that we are surrounded by so many places that support our children and their learning.
Chatsworth Infant School
We continue to have strong links with our feeder infant school. They are also part of the Pioneer Academy. Mrs Ivil and Mrs Owen meet regulalry to discuss how the two schools can work together throughout the school to ensure the best for the children in both schools. Last summer, the Infant school held their sport's day at Burnt Oak and it was a great success. Also both schools visit each other to see performances and assemblies.
Chislehurst and Sidcup Grammar School
The school is very lucky to have strong links with the local grammar school. In the summer term, Year 6 were taught German on a weekly basis by Mr Thomas the leading German teacher from the school. All the children thoroughly enjoyed learning a new language and so did the the year 6 teachers!
Also a language club was held after school for the children. They were not only taught by teachers from the school but also year 10 students who gave up their time to support the children at Burmt Oak. They learnt French, German and even Latin! The langauge club is due to begin again soon.
Rose Bruford
Burnt Oak has enjoyed many a performance and workshop from the fantastic students studying at Rose Bruford College of Theatre and Performance. There have been students from New York who have delivered interactive drama workshops for our children.
In July 2015, our year 6 children had the opportunity to perform their leaver's show within the Rose theatre. With professional lighting and venue, the children and their parents thoroughly enjoyed the show and we hope we are invited back next year!
Holy Trinity Lamorbey
Father Philip is in Burnt Oak on a regular basis taking special collective worship throughout the year. In the Autumn term Fr Philip leads the school in celebrating the Harvest and at Christmas the children in years 5 and 6 have a special Candle lit Christmas service at the church. for the first time last year, the whole school celebrated Easter with a service at the church and this will continue for next year.
Co-operative
We have been lucky to secure some funding from the local Co-op store and will be using this to develop our outdoor learning environment. They also supported the school by donating water and fruit for our sport's day last year.
